Coaching Supervision
What is Supervision ?
Supervision is universally recognised as a key performance factor in achieving high quality coaching. Executive coaches and in-house coaches / HR practitioners need to invest in professionally recognised supervision to meet the needs and quality standards of both their professional and client organisations.
Frequency?
Depending on the amount of coaching you are doing, we would generally recommend that in-house coaches and full-time executive coaches engage in at least 1 x 2 hour session of supervision per month.

Lorna McDowell (AC Supervisor Directory) and Monica Ross both hold Diploma in Coaching Supervision.
Xenergie’s Supervision Ethos – the Wigwam
In native American traditions, the Wigwam represented a meeting place for the creation of wisdom, where stories and dialogues were exchanged and insights drawn from the alchemy of the elements of the process.
The Supervision process helps you to review the past, evaluate the present and prepare for the future. Like the wigwam, Xenergie’s ethos of supervision is that it is a safe uncontaminated space in which “wisdom” can be drawn through an exchange of dialogues, knowledge and experience. Neither one is more powerful than the other or has all the answers, but instead, together we create powerful wisdom through the alchemy of dialogue and insight.
Wigwam – Annual Professional Review
The Supervision process also helps you to review the bigger picture of your professional life – past, present and future. As part of our services, we offer an annual “Wigwam Four Directions Review”, a reflective forum in which to review your life and career and make provision for what is ahead. In a structured three hour (half day) session with Lorna, the time is yours to look at whatever aspects of your life or career you want.
Why is Supervision important?
- Helps professionals translate theory and existing knowledge and ability into real life models of ethical coaching practice.
- Enhances coaching performance by challenging practising coaches with new frameworks that re-energise the client/coach relationship to reach new frontiers.
- Champions best practice and brings clarity to the roles of the supervisor and supervisee to ensure maximum benefit for coach and client is achieved. And likewise for the other important stakeholders in the coaching process.
- Supports the coach in decision making and approach
