Critical Stress Recovery
What do we mean by critical stress?
Any critical debilitating condition that inhibits a person from functioning in a balanced and healthy manner. Such conditions may be physical injury, disease, critical or terminal illness, mental, emotional or spiritual distress, derailment at work or in home life ... caused by imbalance.
Depression, fast becoming the major illness of the 21st Century, is rife in the corporate world:
- There is an increasing difference between what people care about and what they are actually doing.
- Career often provides self-esteem and self-image creating a strong need to work and succeed at work. In addition, this often leads to an over-investment in work, which can become addictive in behaviour, such that life balance falls apart in other areas, causing a domino effect at home and work.
- Sense of duty, the need for success and fear of failure all feed addictive behaviours and come before ownership of health. The result is critical stress - emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual.
- Work-related stress is the second biggest occupational health problem in the EU, after back pain
- Absenteeism is one of the most persistent obstacles to productivity, profitability, and competitiveness
How do you diagnose critical stress?
The symptoms usually remain hidden or unrecognised in the workplace for sometime. What you may perceive are the early stages of critical stress - also know as Attention Deficit Trait - similar to Attention Deficit Disorder seen in children:
- You may feel easily distracted, frenzied, impatient, angry
- You may have difficulty staying organised, managing time, setting priorities
- You may feel you face a tidal wave of tasks, and become increasingly hurried, curt, peremptory and unfocused, while pretending everything is fine
Understanding that ADT springs directly from the workplace environment, compels employers to recognise their duty of care on this issue. Ignored, it may often prompt more serious disorders and addictions.
How can coaching help?
We have designed our deep and caring programmes to support you intensively though 90 days of recovery. We offer two coaches: a vitality coach and a life coach/counsellor to review your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing and we may recommend other practitioners for specific actions.
Typically we assess:
- your personality traits and how past events have shaped you
- prevailing challenges and life crises
- your self image and confidence
- co-dependency and addictive behaviours
- your social self
- your fitness and body sense
- your eating habits and daily rituals
- your spiritual track - your life purpose and what gives you meaning and satisfaction in life
- your energetic self
- your personal life goals
Usually one of your coaches will meet with you once a week, face to face or by phone, to review progress, discuss your thoughts and experience, introduce new learning and next steps. We also work with recovery centres and retreats for those who want complete time out, or for those who need intensive work eg for alcohol or drug problems.
Contact us with your specific enquiry, we will be glad to provide solutions to your needs.
