Team Doctor: From Dysfunction to Performance

By Bernard Chanliau, Wednesday 23 January, 2008

Xenergie presented Team Doctor - From Dysfunction to Performance: Designing a Transformation Journey for Teams that Need to be Fit for Change and discussed some typical phases of a team journey, how to approach them, how to combine many of the tools that are already out there and how to design and roll-out a team journey programme during the CIPD HR Professionals Residential Weekend in Wesport.

With millions of Euros spent on team building days that deliver instant fun, bad hangovers and little concrete change the world over, the time has come to move into a new era for team performance.  Xenergie Consulting will share their experience as executive coaches in the journey of transforming dysfunctional teams into performing teams, in response to changing times when trust and commitment is no longer a given and time does not wait for people to catch .

Team performance is a journey, not an event.  It takes careful attention, naming the issues, getting "underneath the bonnet" of team dynamics and above all persistence - rather than avoidance - to get it right.  Collaborative and committed teams are a must for successful change and innovation - with a focus on challenging hierarchical and bureaucratic habits that stifle commitment and creativity.  Combined with coaching style leadership, the journey to team performance can significantly shift corporate cultures into positive 'can-do' attitudes, reduce fear-based behaviours and make the work environment and stimulating and fulfilling place to be.

"the one thing has the potential to create unparalleled success and prosperity in every dimension of life.  Yet is it the least understood, most neglected, and most underestimated possibility of our time.  That one thing is TRUST"
