Beneath the current economic crisis lies another crisis of far greater proportions, the depreciation in companies of communities. Humans are social animals, we need to feel part of something greater than ourselves and are at our best when we feel we can make a meaningful difference.
Companies need to reengage people and the practice of management needs to be re-thought and re-taught. "We don't need to just do different things, but we need to do things differently," says Lorna McDowell, managing director of Xenergie Consulting UK & Ireland and director of Coaching Alliance Ireland.
Xenergie is calling together a cross-organisation, cross-industry council of change agents in the UK and Ireland - people from a wide range of roles and responsibilities who feel they have a calling to be a change agent, who want to make a difference in the business world within their current role of responsibility. The intention is for a transformational support network that can "see with fresh eyes" and weave a force for renewal and experimentation with new ways of creating a sense of community.

It is time to create the new models that have in them the complexity that makes the older systems obsolete.
