Team Coaching

Successful Collaboration at Work

break_down_silos_432_01As a company, Xenergie has specialised in team performance from its inception in 2001.  We began in the area of team experiential learning in the outdoors using the Belbin Team Role methodology and working in conjunction with Killary Adventure Centre in Connemara, West of Ireland.

Since then, we have evolved our approach over the years to incorporate a number of models, built from our own extensive practical facilitation experience with organisations and also cutting edge academia, melded with a coaching-based approach that helps to bring personal learning to the fore.

This led to Xenergie becoming one of the only fully accredited, qualified firm in Ireland for the provision of Belbin Team Role Certification , Team Development Coaching and Belbin e-Interplace psychometric profiling.

What are the differences between Team building and Team coaching?

Team building tends to be a one-off event, designed to help people get to know each other, and about themselves as a team. It can be great way to bond a new team, or as a reward for a tired and justly deserving team.

Often with a focus on doing things together (experiential learning), normally with a degree of success or satisfaction at the end, and often with a little bit of theory thrown in, it encourages individuals to get to know each other, and feel acknowledged.

Team coaching is not an event - it is an ongoing developmental process (three to twelve months commitment at least one day per quarter). Developing a team is principally an issue of team performance management and this will lead to a multi-pronged approach of team balance, leadership, discipline, process improvement, role clarification, individual performance management, etc.

What is Our Team Coaching Approach?

We focus on increasing the skills and behaviours that contribute to growing levels of performance, innovation, and satisfaction.

Unlike a team building event, team development entails a continuous process by which skills and behaviours are developed within the everyday work environment to create a climate of increasing trust, confidence, and action.

We apply a wide range of techniques and group behaviour models. We are qualified to use a variety of psychometric assessment instruments and can adopt multiple perspectives when looking at issues:

  • We begin with interviews and assessments to identify the strengths and development areas within the team. Then working collaboratively with the team, we co-develop a specific strategy and measurable objectives to increase the level of collaboration, innovation, and performance.

Xenergie's team coaches work with the individual team members in an executive coaching capacity. This allows us to move the individuals forward as well as the team as an entity. This approach -- combining team and executive coaching -- is very successful at moving quickly toward the business objectives.

We also facilitate our unique Team Performance in Action (Team Coaching Train The Trainer): Certificate in coaching Teams (Next Intake end of March 2011) with Experiential learning and Belbin Team Roles
