Executive Coach
Tony is an executive and team coach with 20 years’ experience in public and private sector health and leisure provision, with a focus on customer insight. He has experience coaching leaders and managers at different levels from a Chief Executive in a third sector organisation to service managers within local authorities and the NHS.
His managerial career started as a trainee for TrustHouse Forte and the leisure industry where he experienced the length and breadth of operational and team management roles. After a short career break to look after his children, Tony moved into local government to help develop customer services and the implementation of "one stop shops" in Herefordshire, UK. Tony brought a more business-focussed approach to the performance management of this service ensuring that the business had capacity to develop and evolve over time in order to meet the needs of local people.
In 2009, Tony trained as an internal coach for West Midlands Councils and has subsequently coached in a number of internal pools in both local authorities and the NHS, later joining the Xenergie coaching team on leaving public service in June 2011. Within Xenergie, he also manages customer coaching experience evaluation. He is acutely aware of the challenges faced by senior managers in the public sector and the need to make difficult decisions and has been successful in empowering managers to find creative and sustainable solutions to these challenges
As a coach, Tony creates a relaxed and safe environment in which to facilitate a constructive and supportive dialogue and reflection, empowering coachees to define and agree their own goals and outputs. Using established coaching models, Tony always ensures that coachees have "the end in mind" and can plan their journeys effectively so that goals are achieved.
Recent projects include
• Development of patient engagement projects for a “joined up” NHS PCT and local authority, facilitating groups of service users, patients, customers, gaining insight into the way they perceive how services are delivered and improved • Facilitation of peer group supervision days within local authority coaching pool
• Team coaching pilot with West Midlands local authority
• Development of leadership capabilities of Principal in large third sector organisation
• Board of Trustees team development and skills audit for third sector organisation
• Coach mentor for trainee coaches in South West
