Women's leadership

Women have a wealth of natural attributes and values-led principles at their disposal, not least of which are integrity, creativity, inclusiveness, and the ability to multi-task and to nurture and grow.

Women at work face many barriers not usually applicable to men - feeling we have to prove ourselves twice over, tendency to self-doubt, lack of access to male informal networks, juggling families and careers, poor mentoring and lack of role models to name but a few. But there’s something else - we demand more from our work: AUTHENTICITY.

In the business world where survival of the fittest, spreadsheets, competition, and confrontation is the common language, what women do naturally is now more important than ever.

Developing confidence and learning to play to your natural strengths is one key way forward. However, there’s more to it than that. A smarter approach to people – one where people’s hearts and minds are fully engaged and committed, where work has more meaning than simply a means to an end – is what we need to retain talent. According to recent research by CIPD in the UK, around half of employees reported a feeling of disengagement from their work. Imagine the effect on productivity and team harmony if engagement was nearer to 100%?

Above and beyond all the talk of emotional intelligence, this course provides a practical approach that explores what it really takes to bring emotional and social intelligence into the workspace and seed the routes of culture transformation leading to a more engaged and talented workforce. The approach is grounded in authenticity, building community and encouraging people across organizations – at ALL levels – to be more collaborative, authentic and to feel safe and empowered being so. Women have natural strengths that enable such strategies to ignite and emanate new rays of warmth, realism and excitement through corporate life.

Enhance Influencing Skills: The course also encompasses assessment and practical skills learning, benchmarked against international best practice, for engaging others through influencing styles and confidence, enabling women to feel more powerful in conveying their message.

breaking_the_glass_114This course has been developed by women leaders for women. The facilitators, Lorna McDowell and Brona O’Boyle, have trodden their own trail through senior corporate life and chosen to follow an authentic style of leadership which has resulted in colour, balance, potential and inner and outer success and fulfilment. They discovered that by letting their own lights shine, so they encouraged others to shine theirs, and success became alchemic and magnetic.

Research proves that discussion and sharing increases women’s sense of well-being and can dramatically reduce stress and raise confidence. As such, the course tutors engages participants in active discussion and discovery through personal reflection and group sharing, creating a f supportive community throughout and actively demonstrating collaborative processes which can be modelled in workplace situations back at the ranch.
